Chimney Fire Spring Creek - 7-23-12
A firefighting airplane was forced to make an emergency landing on the Jiggs Highway Monday Afternoon. Elko County Sheriff Jim Pitts said no one was hurt when the aircraft, low on fuel, dropped onto the highway, slowing traffic for a time. The aircraft was one of many dispatched to control the flames of the fast-moving "Chimney Fire," sparked by lightning and whipped by dangerous winds.
