Nevada Outdoor School - Parents are invited to register youngsters for summer sessions of Nevada Outdoor School headed up by trained Americorps volunteers. From learning about the environment to practicing safe and ethical ATV riding, there are three sessions for different age groups beginning in July as naturalist James Winkelman describes.

Prescription Drug Arrest - Elko Police are expanding a criminal investigation after the arrest of a Walnut Street woman on suspicion of numerous counts connected to prescription drug abuse. Lt. Ty Trouten says 39-year-old Jamie Figueroa was jailed on several felony counts after police first received a report of a car with stolen plates on the south side of town. Video Video

Fire at Sagecrest Apartment
Fire at Sagecrest Apartment - A small fire at an Elko apartment complex claimed the lives of four dogs, the animals died from smoke inhalation. According to Elko Fire reports, the fire was quickly contained by residents of the Sagecrest apartments using fire extinguishers. According to reports, the pets were contained to kennels within the apartment. The cause of the Sunday blaze was being investigated by the Elko Fire Department. Video Video

Closed County Meeting - Elko County may be steering a lawsuit over taxes and a geothermal energy development following discussion behind closed doors Monday. Details of the potential case and names of the attorneys investigating are being kept secret, for now. Elko County District Attorney Kristin McQueary said the so-called "non-meeting," is allowed by state statute to allow board members to hear "sensitive" information about potential litigation.
