Law Enforcement Memorial   -
An Elko County Sheriff's Deputy badly wounded in a shootout with a California fugitive some 30 years ago was remembered in Western Nevada ceremonies over the weekend as his name was placed on two Law Enforcement Memorials. Sheriff Jim Pitts recalled that Denny Lawrence had only been on the job in Elko County five months when he suffered a gunshot wound that left him permanently disabled.
