Silver Street Fire 6-24-12 -
Power lines snapped by whipping winds sparked a dangerous wildfire in Elko City limits over the weekend. Arcing lines delivered a jolt that destroyed an outbuilding and threatened several structures for a brief time on Sunday. Fire Chief Matt Griego says wind driven sparks are just one more thing for fire managers to worry about.
